Taom chalk is marketed as a premium snooker and pool chalk, promising no kicks or bad contacts.

After using the chalk for about 3 years now I wanted to share my experience and opinions:

This chalk is the real deal. Hands down best I’ve ever used. It really does live up to its promise of no kicks or bad contacts. Since using the chalk, I literally NEVER get kicks (and my technique is garbage. Bonus).

You may hear some critics (too stubborn to change from their master or triangle) that will try to tell you the chalk reacts differently, and they feel they have better control and finesse with the original triangle or master chalks. I’m here to tell you right now that’s rubbish. I have noticed zero difference, in fact I would argue I’m playing better than ever with the confidence of this chalk.

Another huge benefit: NO chalk marks all over the table. You’ll be shocked, it’s like it’s invisible. No more brushing/wiping after each frame.

But here’s the catch to this chalk: the price. It is not cheap. You’re looking at around $30 AUD for one block! Which is actually insane considering you can get a whole box of triangle or master for less than half of that.

But what if I told you I think that’s a fair price and actually worth it?

What people don’t realise is that Taom lasts a LOT longer than traditional chalk. If you buy it, you’ll notice right away it’s a different consistency to regular chalk, it is a completely different texture and it coats your tip evenly without using much.

I play A LOT of snooker, and I haven’t even put a dent into my current Taom block and it’s probably been over 1 year already. I could’ve easily already gone through a box of 12 of triangle in that time. So for me, the price is justified.

I also love that the covering paper is in little sections, so once you wear it down you can easily peel down to the next section and reveal more of the chalk without rubbing your tip on the outside paper (you can vaguely see this in the above photo).

I will never go back to regular chalk.

So…

Is it expensive? Yes.

But is it worth it? Double yes.
